If you are thinking of buying a foldable phone, wait a minute, as Oppo is going to launch a foldable phone. Indeed, the company has announced the Oppo Find N as its first foldable phone. The new smartphone is said to be the result of Oppo’s four years of R&D and six generations of prototypes. Similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z fold series, the Oppo Find has an inward folding design. Based on the teaser, the phone also has a metal finish and two separate OLED displays, with a foldable display as the primary option. Oppo is also expected to stay on top of its proprietary software experience to provide a unique user experience.
In an open letter released Thursday, Pete Lau, Oppo’s chief product officer and founder of OnePlus, announced the development of Oppo Find N. The design of the new foldable model is claimed to be simple, useful and easy to use. “With Find N, we’ve addressed key pen points in previous foldable smartphones, such as the crease in the display and the overall durability of the device, perhaps by discovering the best hinge and display design ever,” Lau said.
The company has released a video teaser
Oppo has also released a teaser video to give a glimpse of its next foldable phone. The 15-second video shows Oppo Find N’s inward folding design and thin bezel signs on both its cover and foldable display. The phone appears to have a hole-punch design, at least for its foldable display, which may have under-display camera technology at the top.
Find out what’s special about the phone
The Oppo Find N has a round metal design that looks very similar to the original Samsung Galaxy Fold. Additionally, the teaser video shows that the phone will come with a USB Type-C port and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The first generation of the Find N prototype was designed in April 2018, Lau said. Executives joined Oppo last year after their initial tenure at the company before OnePlus was founded in 2013. He continued, “While some other brands have already introduced foldable devices, barriers such as usability, durability and user experience prevent foldable devices from becoming a more practical daily driver for most people. So, when I spoke to OPPO last year, I was excited to guide the team in handling this big project and overcoming the ultimate hurdles to make this dream come true. “
Will launch on 15th December
Details specification of Oppo Find N has not been revealed yet. However, the phone is launching at the Oppo Inno Day conference on December 15, where we can expect more details. According to leaks and rumors, Oppo Find N will be playing with inward folding designs like Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Huawei Mate X2. It has an 8-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and can run a Snapdragon 888 processor under its hood. The foldable phone is also expected to launch with ColorOS 12, and will have a Sony IMX766 50-megapixel primary camera on the back. We can also expect a 4500mAh battery and 65W fast charging support on the Oppo Find N.
